Regarding the global issue of unemployment among youth, the MENA region register the highest rate: 28,2% compared to the global average of 13%. If we look deeper in Tunisia the rate reach 34,8% while in Morocco 28% and the Covid-19 pandemic has further widened this subject.

In this framework it’s born RISE – Resilience and Innovation through Strengthened Entrepreneurship - a 9 months project built on the existing EU-funded regional program, Med-up!. The intervention will address the root cause of the socio-economic stagnation in Tunisia and Morocco, targeting particularly vulnerable groups by contributing to increase economic resilience and employment opportunities for women and youth.

We will act to unleash the potential of innovative entrepreneurial activities and improve institutional, technical, social and economic conditions in the 2 target countries for inclusive growth and job creation.

We will produce research and analysis by:

·         Carrying-out national gendered needs assessments of local economy actors facing the COVID-19 crisis in Morocco and Tunisia;

·         Conducting national analyses to identify the main economic sectors with potential in terms of employment for women, youth and vulnerable groups.

We will invest on capacity building and networking by:

·         Providing tailored digital and in-presence technical support and trainings to Moroccan and Tunisian SESOs, SEs and young entrepreneurs;

·         Promoting networking activities between social entrepreneurship actors, employers and employment agencies;

·         Organizing internships for young entrepreneurs in well-established national companies in the 2 target countries;

·         Organizing 1 virtual study visit in Italy on effective supporting mechanisms for MSMEs and SEs facing the covid-19 related challenges.

We will share our journey by:

·         Collecting and disseminating good practices of successful MSMEs and SEs overcoming the economic and health crisis at national and international levels;

·         Producing documentaries showing the problems faced by youth in accessing the labor market.
